Losanges by the Bouroullecs for nanimarquina

Thursday 13 January 2011

Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec will be showing their new rug collection, Losanges for Spanish brand nanimarquina at Maison & Objet this month. The rugs, which are a beautiful example of artisan work steeped in tradition with a contemporary feel, are inspired by traditional Persian rugs and are made by craftsmen in Pakistan.

"We have always been captivated by the traditional Persian rug, especially by the very old kilim savoir-faire which we see as a delicate mix of rusticity and fineness," says the Bouroullecs. "We have been lucky to see this project carried through by the craftsmen of Northern Pakistan who managed to skillfully combine thirteen colors through the geometrical rhombus shape."
