Lee Broom designs Topman personal shopping suite

Thursday 26 May 2011

A new personal shopping suite designed and curated by Lee Broom was unveiled last night at the Topman Oxford Street flagship in London. The British designer has designed several statement pieces for the space. Lee's One Light Only collection of pendant lights hang overhead and the Cathode Console, lit from below by neon lights, will function as the concierge desk. The area boasts half-moon booths, parquetry tables and walls with classic herringbone patterns.

The opulent design takes inspiration from traditional gentlemen's clubs. The clothes are displayed on trompe l'oeil printed wall panels, which can be easily updated for seasonal changes and oak and walnut surfaces are combined with rich teals, browns and highlights of gold.

WGSN-homebuildlife spoke to Lee Broom about the project: "Coming from a fashion background, it's been exciting to work with Topman to create the personal shopping suite. The suite has a grand, yet youthful feel to it, as it was important to ensure that men felt comfortable within the space. This space was designed to engage, inspire and give men a personal chill-out zone as they step through their shopping choices."

The redesign follows an increasing demand for men's personal shopping appointments. Giles Farnham, personal shopping assistant manager at Topman Oxford Circus told WGSN-homebuildlife: "While the trend for personal shopping among men has almost exclusively been at designer boutique and department store level, the current growth in interest in men's fashion - at a high-street level - has proven the need to invest in the launch of a dedicated personal shopping service at Topman. We will offer all types of guys access to the latest trends and styles to suit their particular needs - totally complimentary, with no obligation to buy."
