Mark's Bar by Lee Broom for Selfridges

Wednesday 4 December 2013

Lee Broom has designed a new bar for Selfridges to celebrate the first anniversary of the department store's Men's Shoe Galleries. Called Mark's Bar and operated by British chef and restaurateur Mark Hix, the space features bespoke furniture by Broom that transforms from a lounge collection into a fully functioning mobile bar.

Inspired by the home entertaining culture of 1960s America, Broom's specially designed furniture collection includes a sideboard, a hostess trolley and tall boy drawer set. Each one is handmade in the UK from walnut and features brass fixtures. An oversize circular mirror and long table with bar stools complete the space.

Mark Hix says of the project, "It is great to have the smallest cocktail bar in the largest men's shoe wear department in the world. As with the original Mark's Bar in Soho, we aim to create some fantastic cocktails, but this time taking inspiration in our approach from famous shoemakers."

Mark's Bar opened today on level 1 of Selfridges, London.
